Record Verified is the badge that makes the rest of them useful to somebody else. It appears when a record has been checked end to end and is open for anyone to verify.

1. Anyone means anyone

Paste the code into the verifier and the record resolves. There is no login, no email gate and no cost, and we do not ask who is checking or tell the Resident that you did.

2. A withdrawn record says so

Revoked and withdrawn come back as themselves, never as "not found". A record we pulled and a record that never existed are different facts, and collapsing them would be the easiest lie to tell here.

3. It is checked live, not attested

The verifier reads the record itself rather than a file somebody emailed you. If something changes after you check it, checking again shows the change.

This is the badge the whole argument rests on. If it did not work, none of the others would be worth reading.
